It has been a while, but finally we have a local pop rock outfit with a female lead singer who doesn’t sound like a prepubescent boy calling for help from the bottom of a well.

Harris Tweed describe themselves humbly as “a girl and a boy with a piano and a bass and some friends bashing skins and strings in the background as well as me warbling away” but they are hardly doing themselves justice. They are recently back from Austin, Texas where they played at South by Southwest, the world’s most renowned indie festival to huge crowds, hidden among which were hundreds of top record company scouts intent on finding the Next Big Thing. All of which means we might soon see the back of the Tweeds, so go and see them while you can.
