It’s so perfectly designed you’d be forgiven for thinking that Hollywood’s modus operandi was forged around the principle of pleasing South Africans.
When winter arrives here and we’re ready to cosy up in cinemas for a few months and Hollywood obligingly wheels out its biggest summer blockbusters. This year is no exception.
First Week - Sex and the City
This film has been looking forward to itself for so long even those who don’t know Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda want to know what happens.
Second Week -
The Chronicles of Narnia – Prince Caspian
The second instalment of the adapted CS Lewis Novels sees the intrepid youths introduced to Prince Caspian, the rightful heir to the Narnian crown.
Third Week -
The Happening and The Incredible Hulk
Hollywood’s veritable ‘Mr. Creepy’, M. Knight Shyamalan, is back with another unsettling, apocalyptic fright fest in the vein of his earlier work The Village and Signs.
Edward Norton is the unlikely yet widely praised star of the long awaited remake of the comic book classic. Also stars Liv Tyler and Tim Roth.
Fourth Week –
Goya’s Ghosts
Natalie Portman and Javier Bardem star in what is more of a story of Goya’s nearest and dearest than it is a biopic of the artist himself.
