Extra Virgin - August 2010

Editorial
Editor - Miranda Sherry

Does anyone remember 2006? It was the year Justin Timberlake brought sexy back and Shakira was very insistent about the truthfulness of her hips…

Italy won the 2006 Fifa World Cup, and the world’s overall ‘beauty quotient’ went up by two notches thanks to the birth of Suri Cruise (Tom and Katie’s little one), and the genetic marvel belonging to Brad and Angelina, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.

2006 also marked the occasion of a rather more important (and no less good-looking) birthday: it was the year that Virgin Money South Africa came into being. Yup, we celebrated our fifth birthday on the 26th of June!

And the celebrations continue to mount as the warm weather now approaches. For a start, there’s Women’s Day on the 9th of August - our first public holiday after a long, icy winter. I suspect that many of the nation’s women will be in particular need of their own day this year, what with all the rugby watching that’s bound to be taking place.

There’s the Super 15, the Tri Nations, and of course, the much awaited 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Whether you’re going to be watching the games through the window of your friend’s lounge, screaming alongside strangers in a Fan Park, or sitting in a New Zealand stadium (did you score these through our card promotion, you lucky thing?) this issue is crammed with handy info to ensure peace of mind while you’re out and about.

Find out why you should cover your personal possessions, learn how to keep your home contents safe, and for all dedicated fellow shoppers out there, discover just how the consumer protection act helps you.

Of course, we’re also throwing in a few fab offers and special deals to make your spring even springier!
