With the weakening Rand, the 29c increase in the petrol price on May 4 and all the instability in Libya and the Middle East, it’s highly likely that we’re going to see fuel prices on the rise… But never fear! Here are a few tips to help you stay on the road without breaking the bank.

Fuel saving tip #1. Maintenance.

Keep your car in tip-top shape and you’ll use less fuel. Don’t forget to take your vehicle in for a service, make sure you replace old or faulty spark plugs, plug wires, distributor caps and clogged fuel injectors; then you’ll really save on fuel costs.

Fuel saving tip #2: Be an Easy Rider

The faster you go, the more fuel you use because of increased wind resistance. Take off roof racks if you can and you’ll increase fuel efficiency even further.

Fuel saving tip #3: Pump up your tyres

Low air pressure makes your car’s engine work a lot harder – you could save 10% extra fuel just by filling up your tyres!

Fuel saving tip #4: It’s time for a spring cleaning

All the extra weight your car has to lug around can result in quite a few extra Rands spent on fuel.

Happy motoring and stay safe on the roads! Don’t forget to keep your details updated with us to make sure that you’re not under- or overinsured. Just call 0860 11 64 72 or click here!
